Dream and Mission:

We’re writers, editors, and cover artists who love to create books. We love to cheer for authors, we love to read, and we love to help authors see their books in print. We’re eclectic, eccentric, and at times irreverent and sarcastic. We believe in building community and helping each other, whether it’s to offer a shoulder during the bumps in this journey or celebrate your wins with you.

We just love books and all the pieces that go into them! And we want to help you see your dream book in print.

Our bios are below, but the best way to find out who we really are is to check out our YouTube channel, Semi-Sages of the Pages, or chat with us on Discord.

Our cover artists and editors are available for other services as well. Check out their portfolios for more information.

We’re Authors - we get it!

  • Theresa Halvorsen: Owner & Manuscript Saver

Theresa Halvorsen has never met a profanity she hasn’t enjoyed. She’s generally overly-caffeinated and at times, wine-soaked. The author of multiple spec-fiction works, including Warehouse Dreams and River City Widows, in addition to various short stories and non-fiction articles, Theresa wonders what sleep is.

Because she didn’t have enough to do, she also started No Bad Books Press, and edits for other spec fiction writers.

When she’s not writing, editing, publishing, or podcasting/Youtubing with the Semi-Sages of the Pages, she’s commuting through San Diego traffic to her healthcare position.

In whatever free time is left (ha!), Theresa enjoys board games, geeky conventions, and reading. Her life goal is to give "Oh-My-Gosh-This-Book-Is-So-Good!" happiness to her readers.

She belongs to a lot of groups, because she doesn’t know how to say no, including the Horror Writers Association, San Diego Writers and Editors Guild and IBPA.

Theresa lives in Temecula with her amazing husband, at times her college-age twins, their partners, and the pets they’d promised to care for. Find her on Threads and Facebook.

  • Morrigan Puhr: Owner & Rebel of the Library

I'm a a writer, teacher, and perpetual student of life! I enjoy embracing novelty through unique ideas, original experiences, and developing a variety of skills. When I am not writing, hanging around with friends and family, or teaching my amazing students, I rock climb, train horses, water ski, or read a good book -- an adventure that's a little easier on the knees.

Inspired by the present that will meld into the future, I write Middle Grade Adventures that have horses, of course. I also write YA speculative fiction. My characters embody the bold and enriching personalities of my nieces and nephews and my students who inspire me to have hope in our future. I am grateful everyday for the actions (small and large) of the many people who pass through my life for a day, a season, or a lifetime. Thank you for kindness, self-reflection, and your ability to consider what can be.

  • M.S. Ewing: Owner & Idea Fairy

Molly was born and raised in Minnesota, but has had the crazy opportunity to live in four other states and three other countries. She started her writing career by penning stories of her summer camping adventures as a child and once won a fifth grade poetry contest.

She especially loves the world of innovation and creativity, and has been a presenter on the subject multiple times to groups such as the Society of Women Engineers and the Industry Fellows Forum. She has presented on subjects related to writing and podcasting at the 2020 & 2021 Flights of Foundry convention as well as the 2023 Nebulas.

  • Chris Bannor: Editor

What are you doing here? I am honestly not as interesting as a character in a novel or short story. Shouldn't you be reading something else?

Well, if you're gonna stick around, I might as well share. Hi! I'm Chris Bannor. I am a writer of speculative fiction. I work in both novel length works and in short stories. While I'm still polishing up my first novel for publication, I have a number of short stories and micro stories that have been published in the last year. Check out my books page to learn more about those.

Why speculative fiction? I adore fantasy and science fiction. I am truly terrified by a good horror story. I suppose the real reason is that life is all about the 'why's and 'what if's. It just so happens that when faced with a dilemma, my brain says... what if this happened... in space!! Wouldn't my co-worker's behavior make so much more sense if ... they are actually an ancient wizard? Why hasn't the zombie apocalypse happened yet? When are those aliens finally coming to abduct me?

Until then, I'm just a writer and the mother of two teenagers doing my best to wrangle my kids, my words, and my imagination into something presentable to the world.

If you want to know more about me, feel free to follow me on social media, join my newsletter, or if you're local, feel free to send me a message so we can grab a cup of coffee. I'd love to have a good conversation!

  • Jacob Brooks: Cover Artist

    Hi there!

My name is Jacob Brooks, and I'm driven by a passion for storytelling. As a highly empathetic person, I've dedicated myself and my artwork to making connections with people and bringing them along with me on an adventure.

My style is imaginative and often surreal, using dramatic lighting and vivid colors to bring fantasy environments and characters to life. I mainly work in a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Sketchbook Pro, to create digital work that looks like it could have been painted with a brush on canvas. I'm also familiar with graphic styles, and use Adobe Illustrator to design type and other elements that harmonize with my illustrations.

I'm currently available for freelance illustration and design work, and am also interested in collaborating on bigger projects.

If you'd like to work with me to realize a creative vision, please shoot me an email. Thanks!

  • Mikki Noble: Cover Artist

Paracoze Designs began in February 2020, but Mikki likes to say the thought of starting her own design company had been brewing for over a decade, as she'd always been into graphic design--even going to college to study Web and Graphic Design.

Mikki is an author herself, so she knows what authors go through and she's here to help. It's her dream to help make your book the best possible design it can be.
